James Paterson was Calum's and Jamie's great great great great great great grandfather.

Little is known of James Paterson yet. All that is known is that he married Janet Graham on 9th January 1761 in the Port of Menteith, Perthshire, where he raised a family.

Janet Paterson was Calum's and Jamie's great great great great great grandmother.

It is believed that Janet or Jean Paterson was born in the loch side village of Port of Menteith in Stirlingshire on 23rd February 1774. The entry still needs to be confirmed, but as she gave birth to her own children there, this seems the most likely scenario. There are no other Jean or Janet Patersons from the area born at this time.

Jean married Joseph Woodroffe, a soldier in the 26th Regiment of Foot, on 20th November 1803 in Stirling, and she settled in her home village of the Port of Monteith in Stirlingshire, with Joseph away in Ireland on duty for a great part of the time. The OPR extract for the wedding reads:

Nov 20: Joseph Woodroff soldier 26th Regt Capt. Horne's Co. & Jean Paterson in this parish.

It is not known if this was the proclamation date or the actual wedding date itself. 

In December 1806, Joseph died whilst en route with his regiment from his post in Ireland to Europe, leaving Janet a widow. At some point after this she moved to Edinburgh, where in 1831 she is listed as living with her daughter Joan.
