Jannet Cragie (Craigie)
17?? - ????

Janet was Calum's g-g-g-g-g-g grandmother.

It is not known where Janet was born, although it was almost certainly in Perthshire, Scotland. There are three strong possibilities as to who she may have been:

1) Janet Craigy, born in Caputh on August 8th 1754, daughter to James Craigy and Mary Smith. If this is correct, then Janet had the following siblings: Jean Craigy, christened March 20th 1743; James Craigy, christened September 20th 1747; and Agnes Craigie, christened August 14th 1756 - all christened in Caputh.

2) Janet Craigie, born in Caputh February 26th 1758, daughter to James Craigie

3) Jannet Craigie, born in Auchtergaven on March 23rd 1766, daughter of Andrew Craigie.

There are other Janet Craigies born approximately at this time in the county, but they are all either at Perth, or further south. She was more likely to have been born close to Little Dunkeld. where she met her future husband and where she settled, hence Caputh, only four miles away, or Auchtergaven, about six miles away, are the most likely options. More work needs to be done with church records.

Janet married James Rogers in Little Dunkeld, Perthshire in 1781. The date of the wedding is unknown, but banns were proclaimed for the first time on July 8th, 1781.

From the OPR record:

July 8 James Roger in this parish and Jannet Cragie in this parish having given up their names were this day proclaimed for the first time.
